Hello everyone! I'm actually making a blog post!!! It's only been two and a half months since my last one. Erik has been bugging me, saying that I should start posting more on the blog, and he's right, so I figured I'd let everyone know how our beta test and our preparation for Mech-A-Pult's launch have been going.
Beta Testing and Finishing Touches
Last week, we posted the first beta version of our game for our testers. So far the closed beta has been going great. We've been able to fix pretty much all of the bugs that we've found so far, and most of what we have to do for the game yet is just to polish it up. There are a few things that we still have to add, like a level up pop-up and the in-game manual, but there aren't any major gameplay features that are still missing. We don't feel comfortable deciding on an exact release date yet, but if I had to guess, I'd say this game should be ready to go by mid-to-late August. Let's hope that the rest of the beta goes well!
Lots and Lots of Marketing
There has been a lot of marketing going on to promote Mech-A-Pult. I can't talk too much about the specifics, mostly because I don't know anything about the specifics. Erik has been working hard finding different outlets for us to use to promote our game, whether they are ad sites, news outlets, or YouTubers. He has also been active on social media trying to promote the game. I'm just glad that he's handling the marketing because I suck at it. Heck, it takes me two and a half months to write one blog post. I think I'll just stick with the programming for now.
I'm really happy with the state the game is in now. Hopefully the rest of the beta goes smoothly and helps us improve the game so we can make it as fun as possible for the release and for all of the people looking forward to it.
